Shopify Experience Audits

Shopify Commerce and AI Shopping Experience Audits

Storefront audits focused on what decides the sale: product page clarity, option selection, mobile shopping usability, cart and checkout friction, product discovery and how AI assisted recommendations actually behave.

  • Free returns on demo orders

Fictional products, prices and recommendations for demonstration. No Shopify store is connected to this page, and no order is placed. Real audits cover your storefront, your theme and your customer journey.

  • Product page clarity Title, price, variants and delivery timing a shopper can grasp in seconds.
  • Variant & pricing clarity Options, bundles and totals that never surprise anyone at checkout.
  • Mobile shopping usability Thumb-first layouts, reachable actions and imagery that stays readable.
  • Cart & checkout friction Bag confidence, charges surfaced early, fewer reasons to abandon.

Why it matters

Shoppers decide in the details

A beautiful product page still loses sales when the variant picker confuses, delivery timing hides, or the bag gives no confidence about what happens next.

Shopify storefronts have a shared skeleton: collection, product, cart, checkout. That skeleton is also where thousands of small decisions accumulate, and each one either reduces doubt or adds it.

Most lost sales are confidence problems, not aesthetics problems. The shopper cannot tell which option they picked, whether the item ships in time, what the bundle actually contains, what returns look like, or whether the bag total will change on the next screen. None of these look broken in a screenshot. All of them are visible in behaviour.

Mobile gets its own pass. Thumbnails that need pinch zoom, variant chips under a sticky bar, add-to-cart buttons that move when the page loads: the desktop audit will not catch these. The demo on this page is a fictional catalog; your audit runs against your real store.

Where AI assisted discovery is present, or worth considering, the audit checks whether it actually helps people find the right product, and whether its suggestions stay honest to your catalog and stock.

Journey map

Where shopping decisions happen

Each stage gets its own questions, its own metrics and its own share of the audit.

  1. 01 · Discover

Can people find the right product through search, filters and collections without dead ends?

  2. 02 · Evaluate

Does the product page answer the real questions in the order shoppers ask them?

  3. 03 · Configure

Are variants, bundles and quantities unmistakable, on any screen size?

  4. 04 · Commit

Does the bag and checkout path keep trust intact until the confirmation appears?

Implementation approach

How a storefront audit runs

  1. STEP 01

    Catalog context

We learn the range, the margins, the seasonal pressure and which products matter most commercially.

  2. STEP 02

    Structured walkthrough

Real browsing paths on desktop and mobile: search, collection, product, cart, checkout, plus the returns to previous steps.

  3. STEP 03

    Evidence pass

Findings are checked against analytics where available, so opinion does not outrank behaviour.

  4. STEP 04

    Priorities

Ranked recommendations written for your theme partner or development team, with a read-out to walk through them.

Scope

Shopify audit scope and limits

  • Includes storefront review of agreed templates and journeys, desktop and mobile, with prioritised findings.
  • Includes product discovery, search and filter review, and assessment of existing recommendation features.
  • Custom theme development, headless builds and complex app configuration are not included by default.
  • Checkout behaviour is partly controlled by Shopify; findings respect what is actually changeable in your setup.
  • The demo store on this page is fictional and connects to no Shopify account.

If a recommendation needs custom development, the priority list will distinguish quick theme adjustments from deeper builds so the budget conversation is honest.

FAQs

Questions about shopify experience audits

Something not covered? Ask us directly.

Do you need access to our Shopify admin?

A storefront audit runs on the public experience, so most reviews need no admin access at all. If deeper work is agreed, like theme review or app configuration, access is requested separately with the least privilege that works.

Is this only for Shopify themes?

The service is built around Shopify storefronts: theme structure, product templates, cart and checkout expectations, app-injected elements. The checkout itself is partly Shopify controlled, which is factored into what can and cannot be changed.

Do you build custom storefronts or headless builds?

No, custom storefront development is not part of this service. The audit delivers findings and prioritised recommendations; implementation can be handled by your theme partner or scoped as a separate, specific project.

What about AI shopping features and recommendations?

Discovery and recommendation experiences are reviewed where they exist on your store, and we advise on where AI assisted discovery could genuinely help. Recommendations always use your catalog context, never invented inventory.
